Braided delicacy from the Danish kitchen
Everyone looks forward to family time at Christmas. After a hearty lunch and perhaps a little nap, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and home-baked cookies will soon spread throughout the house – it’s coffee time!
Would you like to surprise your family with something new for Advent coffee? Then try your hand at Danish Christmas bread.
Here you can find a delicious recipe:
200 ml of milk | warm up and with |
50 g yeast | stir |
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 tbsp sugar and 1 egg | add and stir well |
75 g butter in 225 g flour | crumble and add to the yeast mixture |
225 grams of flour | Add to the dough and knead for at least five minutes |
dough | Let rest for 45 minutes |
75 g butter and 90 g of sugar | Mix to a soft cream |
dough | Roll out into a rectangle (30x40cm) |
mixed cream and 150 g DEN GAMLE FABRIK jam (strawberry or raspberry) | Spread on the rolled out dough |
100 g grated marzipan paste | sprinkle over it |
Now roll the long side of the rectangle into a roulade. Divide the roll into three parts, but so that one end stays together! Braid the cut pieces into a “braid” and place this on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Brush the braid with egg or milk and let it rise in the oven for 45 minutes.
Then bake the bread at 180 ° C for about 25 minutes.
If necessary, the bread can be frozen!
